about

The reading of tarot cards is an activity in which one can experiment with personal narratives. By randomizing the card selections, the reader creates an interface between chance and interpretation. All potential outcomes predicted by a tarot reading are dependent upon the agency of the subject, and therefore are changeable.
Some people do not believe that God would choose to communicate with us through a medium like a tarot reading. In light of this viewpoint, tarot can still provide insight into a subject’s personal situation through the personalization of the selected cards.
For others, tarot readings can provide encouragement or warnings, advising a subject to pursue specific behaviors in order to achieve a goal.
The track selections for this release were made based on tarot cards drawn during a long-distance conversation.

The moon card is rich with spiritual and psychological symbolism. In the foreground is a crayfish crawling from the water to meet a path that is illuminated by the moon. To the right of the path is a wolf, and to the left is a dog, and the path divides an expanse flanked by two identical towers in the distance. The card can be interpreted to represent intuition and the
subconscious mind, with the crayfish representing the most primordial aspects, the wolf the most wild, and the dog the most tame. The path is only partially illuminated and riddled with
distractions, and the card can be interpreted as a warning against allowing past traumatic experiences to lead us to judgement errors. Instead, we are encouraged to silence our toxic thought patterns and amplify the voice of our intuition.

The magician card features a person in a white garment, draped with a red cloth, with an infinity symbol floating over their head. Their right hand is holding a wand and reaching upwards to heaven, and their left hand points its index finger to the earth, suggesting that the magician acts as a conduit to transfer the will of the divine to this realm. The snake on their belt symbolizes transformation, and the items associated with the four minor arcana suits of the tarot deck (the cup, the wand, the sword, and the coin) are laid out on their table, implying that the magician is a master of balance and resourcefulness. Ultimately, the magician represents manifestation and mental strength. They are surrounded by various blooms that emphasize their tenacity and purity of intention, and the card appears to encourage us to trust that we have everything we need to self-actualize and achieve our aims.

The lovers card contains imagery reminiscent of the story of the fall of man from the Old Testament. On the left is a nude female in front of the Tree of Knowledge, on the right is a nude male in front of the Tree of Life, and in between them is a mountain representative of the uphill battles we face in life. The angel Raphael floats above the two humans to represent the ultimate goal of divine healing through spiritual enlightenment. When the lovers card appears in a reading, it can be interpreted to mean that there is a true love connection in one’s life, or that one is gaining confidence in their personal beliefs. The card encourages one to love all aspects of their experience, positive and negative, in order to find harmony.

The emperor card features a strong armored man, with a grey beard to indicate wisdom and a crown to indicate power. He holds an ankh, an Egyptian symbol of eternal life, in his right hand, and a golden apple, a symbol of learned authority, in his left. He sits on a rigid throne built on a background of irregular mountains to indicate his stability in the face of challenge and uncertainty. The emperor card can be interpreted as indicating that the subject of a reading is a fair leader who is illuminated by experience and knowledge. The emperor can indicate that the subject has chosen a strategy with high likelihood of success.
